Hi, I'm working original aspect ratio of 16:9 (1920x1080). However, I also need to deliver in 4:3 (1440x1080). Cropping won't work as the subject moves out of the frame of a fixed crop window.

Is there a way to:

  • Change the project aspect ratio to 4:3 for additional editing.
  • Control where the crop box is along the timeline (sort of new era pan and scan?)
  • Some other solution I'm not thinking of since I'm new to Premier.

I'm sure this is simple, but I'm having difficulty coming from another editor, and I don't know Adobe's terminology yet.

Thank you in advance.

You can change sequence settings to 1440x1080. (Sequence > Sequence Settings).

You cannot move the so called 'crop' box. You move the image inside the new frame with the position properties.

In Response To Ann Bens

My suggest is to make duplicate of working sequence.Like AnnBens suggest, change sequence settings and if image is static just move clips with position and if there is active move try auto reframe effect.

Give the auto reframe a try:

https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/auto-reframe.html

I would try it on the whole sequence first.

You can adjust where the auto reframe does not work.

This was not working correctly for a bit, but I don't recall which version was broken.

Thank you all. I knew it was a matter of not knowing the terms or workflow. I'll try these and report back in case another user has a similar question.
